Are You Wearing the Right Bra?

Image c/o Melissa Maples

Do you know that a good portion of the American woman isn't wearing the right bra?

Do you know that French women look at lingerie/bras as a 'big deal' and consider it a major asset in their wardrobe (I should know I witnessed this for myself in Lyon)?

It's one thing to be attracted by a crazy sale at Victoria's Secret, but it's another thing to get a bra that fits your frame. Have some back fat you want to hide? Are you getting the right cup size? is one shoulder higher than the other?  Did you gain/lose weight lately? Trust me - I recommend that every gal get a professional bra fitting.

I enjoyed the service over at My Intimacy.  Yes, the bras are expensive, but once you know your size in a particular designer, you can easily shop for deals and discounts online. The process is simple, go to the website, find your city and schedule an appointment. If you don't have a My Intimacy nearby, I highly recommend going to Nordstrom.

I grew a cup size during my pregnancy, but I made sure to get fitted for just the right over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder.

I have also had really good luck over at Trousseau and at Nordstrom.. My biggest bra pet peeves are when the adjustment things slide down the strap or when the strap elastic is crappy and stretches out too much. I feel like I'm hard on my bras- and my boobs aren't small, but they're not huge either! *shrug*

I'm going to try and condense my rant on bras. I've had a bra fitting about 5 times and each time I get a different answer. I would never pay for a bra fitting. The key is to make sure the person is not trying to sell you something. Victoria Secret doesn't carry my size and I was actually convinced to go with the "equivalent". Never again. Nordstrom and other higher end stores do carry non cookie cutter sizes but they can get $. In the end you have to trust your gut. You know your body more than the fitter and you know if you will actually wear the bra.

I will tell you and not exaggerate that going to My Intimacy changed my life!!!! I was in denial for years that I could be anything bigger than a D. I finally did some trying on and acquiesced to being a DD and was semi satisfied with that. At the suggestion of a very wise friend I went to My Intimacy and came out with 3 brand new bras in a size G!! My "girls" have never felt so good! Seriously, this makes all the difference in how you can feel, look and there for act. You wil pay a good bit of money for these bras, but they are worth it! Take care of your girls. If the elastic wears out, go back to My Intimacy and they will make the appropriate adjustments.
