All is Right with the World Again

I don't know about you, but I am ECSTATIC that football season is finally here.  I live for Sunday afternoons, Monday Night Football, and now, Thursday Night Football.  And you best believe my city is right behind me; on Thursday, September 10th, the city hosted a free NFL Kick-Off concert featuring Tim McGraw and the Black Eyed Peas.

I had enough sense to not join in on the day's festivities (I don't even want to imagine what parking and crowd-control was like), but I wouldn't miss the game for anything.  I'm one of those gals who would much rather watch a football game than Project Runway.  Unfortunately, my roommate is not one of those gals (she's from Ohio and works in fashion). So I have to find another place to watch the big game.  That's okay though; Gals like us know better than to freak out over such things.  I mean, there are plenty other places to catch the home opener, right?

  • The boyfriend's house: If your man is anything like mine, he wouldn't be caught dead missing the game.
  • Through a neighbor's window: You might not catch all the audio, but if you're living in a town like Pittsburgh, your neighbors are probably tuning in.
  • At a sports bar: I enjoy the combination of beer and football.  And if my team loses, it never hurts to have a little alcohol in my system.
  • Stream the game online: NFL.com streams football games on its website.  For all you non-fans, many other channels and sites such as Hulu.com stream television shows as well.
  • Twitter: Of course, you won't be able to see all the action, but at least you'll be able to keep up with the score.  When I went to South Carolina during the Stanley Cup Finals, Twitter was extremely helpful to me.

And of course, you can always compromise with your roommate and agree to switch channels during commercials like I did last Thursday.  I'm afraid, however, that option will not be suitable this week...I refuse to miss one second of the home opener!  So it's off to Boyfriend's house I go.

Best of luck to you if you have to share the boob tube with someone else during TV premiere season.  And good luck to the Pittsburgh Steelers -- the football champions of the world!

Live sports trumps anything else (read: anything else is recordable), always!!!

I had no idea that NFL.com streamed the games. I am not a big football fan but Iike to watch from time to time.

Ya, I'm the same way. I'm not certain they stream every game live (that'd be a lot of games!), but it looks like they have a good video selection.
