The First Chicagoland Sonic Drive-In:
Open In Aurora!

SonicBelieve it or not, this food loving gal never tried a darn thing from Sonic - and I feel like I'm missing out. Today, August 19th, Sonic Drive-In is now opened in Aurora. I keep hearing about this Cherry Limeaid drink, too.

Anyone have suggestions, tips or favorites I should try? Michael may take me there for dinner...

Fatburgers is Coming to Chicago!
Thank You, Kanye West!

FatburgerChicago's Hip Hop King, Kanye West, is bringing 10 Fatburgers to the Chicago area. If you don't know what Fatburgers is, it's a west coast chain with tasty, finger licking good hamburgers.   The first one opens in Orland Park, with a Beverly (remember my article on Beverly?) location coming soon. Now that's some nice South Side love:).

Who knew he was starting a food empire as well?Kanye_west

Thanks, Kanye!

Hub 51: The “New” Place to Be Seen
Follow the Rules on the Menu - No, I’m Serious

Hub_51 It seems that a new eatery to opens every day in Chicago. Michael and I decided to check out new Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, Hub 51 The sons of LEYE guru, Richard Melman run Hub 51. The location is, you guessed it, at 51 W. Hubbard.  Imagine a place that is similar to Martini Park with good food, loud music (like Rockit) and the place to people watch the social divas of Chicago (like Rockit).

First things first, the food was great - nothing spectacular, but hey, we aren’t talking a 4-star French bistro, are ya?. Nothing was over the moon, per se, but reasonable prices for meals that are above what you’d call ‘bar food’. The Melman Brothers learned a good deal from their father. Both siblings were on the floor, checking on tables, running food and really being a part of the inner workings of the joint. I like that. I like seeing the owners at work. A large garage door opens to the street to let the summer breeze roll in. The vibe is just right for a crowd that is about to hit the town for the night and need some solid food, drink and scene to start things off right. Portions are massive.

Dinner at Chataigne: August 21

Chic

Come join us at our next event on Thursday, August 21.

Dining Out, Splitting Dishes
and Enjoying a Multi-Faceted Meal

Dinner_plate We've heard it before, right? Portion sizes in most American restaurants are massive.  You order the chicken and are presented with a whole bird. You order the pasta and you get the whole box. For the last few years, I've changed up the way I eat when at most restaurants.  Whether you are with your husband, girlfriend, lover, sister, friend or co-worker, a few simple strategic decisions will keep your palette happy, while ensuring your waistline doesn't hit the table.

In addition to this, don't forget about taking advantage of restaurant loyalty programs that reward you with a free meal now and then...

Eat Your Pasta, Watch the Sauce's Sugar

Baking_sauceFirst of all, pasta is NOT your enemy, especially if you buy whole wheat pasta. What you should watch out for is the sugar that comes in your beloved sauce jar. The sugar content is what can easily make your waistline day, 'Scuse me, what are you doing?'

I made a big batch of my famous (well, famous in my eyes) Three Cheese and Sausage Pasta bake last weekend. I used some veggies to make the dish healthy, in addition to a low sugar Baking Sauce from Barilla, some tomato paste and a can of crushed tomatoes.
