It seems that a new eatery to opens every day in Chicago. Michael and I decided to check out new Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, Hub 51 The sons of LEYE guru, Richard Melman run Hub 51. The location is, you guessed it, at 51 W. Hubbard. Imagine a place that is similar to Martini Park with good food, loud music (like Rockit) and the place to people watch the social divas of Chicago (like Rockit).
First things first, the food was great - nothing spectacular, but hey, we aren’t talking a 4-star French bistro, are ya?. Nothing was over the moon, per se, but reasonable prices for meals that are above what you’d call ‘bar food’. The Melman Brothers learned a good deal from their father. Both siblings were on the floor, checking on tables, running food and really being a part of the inner workings of the joint. I like that. I like seeing the owners at work. A large garage door opens to the street to let the summer breeze roll in. The vibe is just right for a crowd that is about to hit the town for the night and need some solid food, drink and scene to start things off right. Portions are massive.
