The Houses That Jacks Build
A GG Tribute to the Skilled Worker

Construction_guys_4 I was walking up Wabash this morning, en route to pick up a car rental for a meeting I had in the burbs.  I couldn’t help but to smile when I walked upon a scene that is so classic, so cute, that I stopped to get a picture of these men.  There they were in a row, waiting for their work day to start. The leaves on the trees shielding their eyes from the sun. Some guys read the paper, some guys at their breakfast, while others smiled at me and my iPhone’s camera.  Why do I find this picture so special?

Ready and Willing to Rock

Concert_5

This summer I've had the opportunity to get into Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, and the Hideout Block Party for free.  That's free spelled F-R-E-E.  All I've had to do was promise a few hours of my time as a volunteer and they've considered my debt to the festival paid.  When you consider the cost of tickets and the value of the food and drink that they usually provide volunteers, it's an incredible deal.  Additionally, if you sign-up through a non-profit group they get the money that you would have been paid.  Helping other people while helping yourself save some money?  Awesome.  So next time you're thinking about attending a large event, see if they're seeking volunteers and pocket that $50 for a bucket of soda and a soggy corndog when your shift is finished.

GG on the Move...

Hi Ladies,

I'm back from Columbus and will be all over Chicago filming college students for a project I'm working on with a local agency. If you are of college age or know of someone who is college age in the Lincoln Park area, we will be up there around noon.  Email me and let me know!

I also go the final place for our August 21 dinner - you'll LOVE it.

Attention Vanessa Hudgens Fans
Win a Vanessa Hudgens Concert

Tell Your Nieces, Nephews and Cousins!

Vanessa If someone in your family is a fan of Vanessa Hudgens, she's giving them a chance to win a free concert at their school. Yup, Baby V is going to visit the lucky winner and perform! She just released her new album and recently came out with a new Back to School music video. I'm helping some folks with promoting the concert, so tell your relatives and sisters!

Talk about being the most popular kid in school for the day. Wow.

Decorate with Fruit
A New Way to Use House Gifts

Fruit..and here is your weekly dose of my 'Martha Stewart moment'...

Who doesn't love fruit?  I have a vast amount of bowls, platters and serving dishes, care of our spectacular family and friends.  I was rearranging things in the kitchen the other day and took a look at the three tiered appetizer platter sitting on the refrigerator. I've used it a couple times for parties and wished I could use it more.

I also thought back to the amount of fruit that we buy and how I forget that last apple in the back of the crisper drawer.  It all clicked.  Why not use the appetizer plates to display the fruit and add some color to the place? Having the fruit on the counter also reminds me to have a healthy snack - versus dig in the cupboards for my precious lime flavored Tostitos:)

If you have pretty bowls, platters, etc, don't hide them! See if you can incorporate them in your space, no matter how small or large it is.
