New Signs at Midway Airport

Expert_travelerAre you an expert traveler?  New signs at Chicago's Midway Airprot cracked me UP this afternoon.

I had a quick business trip to Columbus today and saw this sign, in addition to signs that read, ' Casual Traveler' at the front of the security line.

I'm happy to report that I flew by through the line, but at the same time, thought it was comical with the amount of Business Type folks that were still in the Casual line.

Here's to another funny category that separates us into different lines...
By the way, there was a water leak in the Southwest Airlines bathroom. And THIS is why I roll up my pants whenever I go into a public bathroom. Gross. You don't want your pant bottoms touching any of that now, do you?

Anyone Been to Columbus?
Cafe or Boutique Recos?

I head to Columbus for an in and out day business trip on Tuesday. Staying at the Hyatt. Any tips for cafes, etc. if I have a some time to explore? I doubt I'll have time, but you never know.

Thanks in advance!

How was your 4th everyone?

After writing last week's post about the importance of the 4th of July, I thought back to my favorite teacher in high school, Mrs. Voss. Mrs. Voss was my AP History teacher and gave me my first love - American History. I've been to DC, but itching to back. I can spend hours at the Smithsonian and hours reading old books, papers and staring at the White House. Don't ask me why because I can't explain it - I just love it.

I also have good friends that I'd love to visit.

Would you be interested in keeping up with me in Washington DC? Have you been? What would you like to know about?

TripAdvisor's Dreams Cancun Reviews - overall great time, but they have a tendency to get a bit more cash out of you, given it's initially 'all inclusive'

The Extremes of a Vacation

A bit of a delay writing on this end, as you can see.  I've been exposed to sand, water, beaches, pools, phenomenal resort service and a beautiful wedding on a cliff.

On the flip side, I've seen bars promoting all you can drink specials, over priced jewelry and a country whose natural beauty and craftsmanship is sometimes overshadowed by the zealous tourists that come to visit.

We leave in a few days and I'll have plenty of tips, updates and stories for you. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy tonight's Caribbean party along with spend time with the newly married couple.

When You Work for Yourself
Being on Vacation May Include a Bit Of Work

Coffee_in_roomI just finished up with a hefty afternoon of catching up on my emails, writing and client work.  The picture is of the coffee and cookies I ordered from room service.  I'm here in Cancun for a week, but given I work on various projects, I knew that having my laptop and web camera would come in handy.  On top of all that, I don't want to be in the sun all day long. A few spots on my body are burned, but nothing horrible.

Michael enjoyed an afternoon watching the soccer game with our friends and I took advantage of that time with an afternoon of quiet, air conditioning, room service, paying bills and catching up with life in general.

What's my point? When you work for yourself, regardless of capacity, you, in a sense are always 'working'.  I am having the TIME of my life down here. It's all about how you define work and how you balance it with your daily grind.  Here is a picture of the view immediately to my left. Not too bad, eh?

Don't worry, ladies. I'm enjoying my relax' time - which also includes some choice moments on the laptop:).

Traveling with Your Elders Any Time Soon?
Traveling with His Any Time Soon?

San_francisco_pier_2 You deposited your measly tax-return and tried to stash it, along with your rebate-check into savings. But suddenly, there is something wrong with your right front tooth, or, ‘number 8’ as your dentist calls it, and as you write an exorbitant check, you simultaneously remember that you are another month behind a student loan payment, and also desperately need to move out of the neighborhood your realtor once referred to as, “up and coming.” Isn’t living independently in the city, fabulous? You wish that you had something to sell on e-bay, so when your parents suggest a vacation to California with your fiancé, all expenses paid, you say, “Great, we’re in!” But, what you should say is, “Great. What’s the catch?”

Gals' Guide in Cancun:
Beach Tips and Riding the Bus

Hola My Chicas,

A bit sunburned today and another lazy day on the beach and pool. Who doesn't like pools that have a swim-up bar?  Take a look at the video below, it includes two clips...1) beware of leathery skin and 2) how to take the bus to La Isla mall in Cancun.

Tonite is going to be fun - the resort is setting up a Mexican fiesta complete with mariachi band. I love mariachi.
