Walking in the City: Monon Trail

One of the best things about the North side of Indianapolis is the Monon Trail. The urban trail runs 10.5 miles from 96th Street to 10th Street, connecting to other greenways on either end. The Monon is perfect for biking, walking, running, roller blading, and walking your dog. Certain sections even have parking lots so you don't have to live right next door to use it.

Hike Around the City

The other day I was thinking about hiking trails around the city, and realized that I didn't know of many besides going to the local park. So I did an internet search and stumbled across the Indianapolis Hiking Club.



To join there are three requirements:
-Be at least 18 years of age
-Have hiked with the Club on two occasions as a guest
-Be recommended by any member

You don't have to be invited to go on a hike- just show to any of the scheduled hikes. Membership costs $15 a year, or $22 for a family. The hike schedule can be found on the website. Multiple hikes are held daily and occur all over the city, including various malls, parks, and neighborhoods.

A great way to meet people, get outdoors and get some exercise. So lace up those shoes and set off on an adventure!
